Governor – Mrs Carol Gaskarth

Carol has a wealth of experience in strategic project management and business development.

Carol began her employment at Bishop Auckland College working within the Finance and HR departments and moved through various departments gaining a broad knowledge of customer service, administration, finance, human resources and quality.  Skilled in trouble shooting and with excellent people skills Carol then worked for a short period within the curriculum department and was responsible for developing the examinations section and implementing a range of information and communication technologies in order to improve effectiveness and deliver an efficient service.

Following a number of years working within Bishop Auckland College Carol moved into a customer facing role delivering Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) in one of the country’s first one-stop-shop’s for learning.  Managed by a local learning town partnership Carol quickly progressed to become the Learning Town Co-ordinator responsible for managing a multi-agency partnership and for securing and sustaining a number of external funding streams. She oversaw the delivery of services in a range of settings including community centres, schools and businesses.

In 2002 Carol joined the Pioneering Care Partnership (PCP) as a project co-ordinator managing a range of health and wellbeing projects.  Due to Carol’s previous experience this portfolio was expanded to include community learning and IAG.  Carol progressed from a middle management position to become part of the organisations Senior Management Team and became PCPs Business Development Director.  In 2013 Carol was appointed to the role of Chief Executive at PCP and thoroughly enjoys the challenge of overseeing such a dynamic organisation.

Carol is a firm believer in lifelong learning and has completed a Post Graduate Extended Diploma in Leadership and an MBA. Carol has recently commenced as an Enterprise Adviser for the North East LEP and the Careers and Enterprise Company in order to help create a powerful, lasting connection between local businesses and schools and colleges.

When not working or studying Carol enjoys spending time with her family and escaping to warmer climates!
